Surface designs, various materials

The use of patterns in design is traditionally ornamental and uniform – symbolizing beauty and perfection. Instead of this traditional application I tried to explore ways in which they could acknowledge the role which fate and chance play in our lives.

I developed fabrication processes which produce infinite variations of broken patterns or partially fixed elements which, through human use, reveal new geometries over time. Exploring the blurry line between organization and disorder plays with aesthetics of ambiguity and through the breakdown of an ideal reveals the fragile beauty of the human condition.
